Some people are calling it a possible trap game for Forestview as the Jaguars travel to face rival Ashbrook tonight in a Big South 3A Conference football game. Whatever happens, I’ll be there to bring you the drive-by-drive action, starting at 7:30. Check back then for continuous updates.

Ashbrook will receive the opening kickoff.

B.J. — Thanks for your comment. I’ll type as fast as I can, but I can only update by the drive. Hope it’s frequent enough.

Phil, I hope you type real fast…I don’t believe my ears can take much more of the WGNC auditory assault. AND they were in a commercial during the opening kickoff!!
Help us Obi-Phil, you’re our only hope.

  • BJ says:

The description of the FV interception on radio:
    “OHHHHHHHH!!!!”
Then they went on to try to explain the play thusly:
    ” I ain’t ever seen a play like that’un right there.”
Then I found out there was an interception…after reading your blogging.

  • BJ says:

Looks as if you’re watching an ugly game.
    It sure SOUNDS ugly.
    “OHHHHHH!!!”
    Faster, Phil, type faster!

  • BJ says:

So the Jags are laying an egg so far tonight, huh? A little post-South Point letdown, ya think? No offense for FV, and the defense is playing bend-don’t-break. It’s a good thing the Jags aren’t playing a good, or even mediocre, team tonight. They could be staring down a large halftime deficit, instead of just 7 points.
Coach Medlin oughta be able to fire his troops up for the 2nd half, considering how badly they played in the 1st half. FV gets the ball first, and I expect the running game to get untracked…and look for that center screen…it’s worked pretty well for the Jags when they’ve needed an offensive spark.
    Great job as usual, Phil!

Uh, there’s a reason I listen only to XM Radio now and have for the last five months. It was bad enough when WFNZ started sounding like a learning lesson for English in the mornings and middays …I just now wento get some supper and elected to leave my XM receiver at work and take a listen to WGNC’s attempt at broadcasting. Ouch. I heard what BJ did. I also heard, “Ladies and gentlemen” about 15 times while I was in the car. Yes, the brain surgeons missed the kickoff. Yes, I heard these wizards mangle the language brutally. Would someone tell the public address announcer at Ashbrook that he has no particular idea what he’s doing? I used to do PA work and I know what you DON’T do … and most of the PA people around here don’t know how. You don’t YELL. The guy at Ashbrook … several years ago, when the new Circuit City opened on Franklin, Ashbrook was playing at home that night. I could hear the guy clearly in the parking area at Circuit City. I gotta quit writing … I’m sending out Sunday pages.

  • BJ says:

Wow! Jags must really look flat tonight. Interception on the first series?
What is going on with FV? Tell us, Phil. The flippin’ radio is no help.

  • BJ says:

    I turned the radio off.
Thanks, Phil, for a more descriptive call than the radio goobs.
The Jags have 9 minutes to score 2 TD’s. They CAN do it, but can they do it TONIGHT?
C’mon JAGS! Show some pride, al ittle bit of heart, why don’tcha?

  • BJ says:

Should be “a little”. not “al ittle”.
    My bad.
    Preview is my friend.

  • BJ says:

5 minutes left? Jags are done.
What a major letdown after last week!
So now there are (at least) 3 teams with one loss in the conference.
From the driver’s seat to the rumble seat in one week…way to go FV.

  • BJ says:

    Great job, Phil!!!
    Thanks for the blog.

  • Rebecca says:

Way to go, Ashbrook!!! And thanks, Phil, for the great coverage!

  • Rodney Palmer says:

South Point is still the cream of the crop in the Big South and Gaston County this year. Forestview played the game of their life last week and managed to steal a game at the jaws of defeat but would not win that game 99% of the time.

  • Lord Rayzor says:

FV fans leaving a game early? Surely such a thing would never occur. Sorry a team that makes it to the playoffs every year can’t enjoy better fans…ya’ll deserve better
